Did You Know ?

Is your background slow to load?

Did you know that if you don’t care if your background image scrolls up, it only needs to be 1600 x 600 pixels to wallpaper the page with no repeats?  This works for the Splendio Theme here, and my Adventure Journal theme on Tutor and Teach.  Cropping the image to this size with a photo editing program will use the minimum file size for a completely covered fixed custom background – the smaller the image’s file size, the faster it will load.

Wow! Is that fast!!!

For cropping I use Google’s free Picassa.     For enlarging I use free Smilla Image Enlarger.

1600 x 600 pixels 136 kilobytes this is not the actual size

Did you know that many of the themes give you the option of having random photos from the media library appear in your header?  I am easily bored, so seeing different images on my custom header gives me a little lift.

Did you know for weblogs that do not have a static page, clicking on the site’s title will take you to the posts page?

  1. Ah. hmmm. Yeah, wordpress is still a little frustrating to me at times. I’ve been at it over a mo nth, but mostly try to get by without reading the directions. Not just because I’m lazy, but, well, this place is not so easy to navigate. They are in the process of hiring people to help users like us with such things. Hope they make some improvements. But I really do love it here. It’s the best thing I’ve found for my life in a while. Thank you for your comment about my little rant. It made me feel better at a time when I felt bad for just spewing my bad feelings over the screen. Have a great weekend.

    • you are welcome to my opinion anytime (ha ha) i have a lot of them about a vast number of topics.
i am very detailed oriented and like things organized and categorized and as easy to find as possible.- i see that you are too – i have learned about 75% of wordpress’s functions – the only differences I find are in the different themes, but it has taken me a few weeks of intense effort and experimentation to get here.- i also kind of skipped most of the “how to” articles as too boring to bother with
i thought your poem/rant was excellent
you explain the reason for your blog very well and lots of folks are interested in the struggles of other people – people don’t share those things in every day life usually except the chronic complainers
i wrote a poem that i’ll be publishing here soon about my experiences with negative thinking.- what I call ‘victimlicious’

      • I’ll be happy to see your poem. Good to meet you, Jackie. Can’t believe I’ve been at this computer about five hours today already. I had shied away from twitter for too long. Oh, by the way, I look forward to reading more of your blog. I’ve always been curious about “The Course in Miracles” especially. See ya round the press (or perhaps, the funny papers–haha)

        • the course in miracles is excellent – i have only recently begun reading it – i went to a group for a while, but got busy and got away from it. – i would take issues in my life to the group and received a lot of great ideas about where my thoughts were going wrong – especially about relationship problems.

please speak up, your POV matters
